Dining Out
The following is for guidance only due to changes in ownership and management.
For pubs and restaurants you will
have to go to Islip, Beckley
or Stanton St John, which are all within two to three miles and on the old coaching route from London to Worcester. Click on any highlighted text.
We recommend The Star at Stanton
St John for a good traditional pub meal in a delightful typical English
pub. To reach it turn right out of our
drive and right again on to the B4027.
After three miles you will arrive at Stanton St John where you will see
a Pub called The Talk House. The food
here is very good, and serves a choice of large or small portions. Turn left immediately
after The Talk House and behind it you will find The Star.
Alternatively, The Abingdon Arms
at Beckley which we also like,
serves excellent food, where you will be well looked after. It is also along the B4027, turn left at the
top of hill. There is the most amazing
view to the left. Turn left again and
follow the road to the right through village and it is on the left.
There is a Thai Pub at Forest
Hill, The White Horse which serves very good Thai and English food.
For a memorable dining experience, Mike and Imogen North have been awarded a Michelin Star at The Nut Tree, Murcott. Although six miles away, it is well worth the journey for a special meal. 01865 331253
Islip
has two pubs with fairly new landlords. The
Swan is more "pubby", serves good beers, reasonably priced food and has a
delightful terraced garden at the back.
The Red Lion is slightly more expensive, but still good value, serving steaks on hot rocks.
